Another Premier League newcomer, Andre Villas-Boas, faces an awkward away match in his opening clash as Chelsea manager, as they travel to Stoke.
Chelsea started last season with a 6-0 thrashing of West Brom and looked title favourites after an electric opening to the campaign, and they will be looking for a similar start at Britannia Stadium on Sunday.
But Stoke have proved a bruising opponent for many down the years, especially at home, and manager Tony Pulis has added the experienced duo of Jonathan Woodgate and Matthew Upson to his squad.
Stoke boss Pulis is hopeful Rory Delap (hamstring) and Matthew Etherington (rib) will overcome niggles while Ricardo Fuller, Mamady Sidibe and Danny Higginbotham are long-term absentees.

The wait is over. The new season is upon us and it promises to be better than ever.
After a thrilling end to last season we begin this season with 6 teams going for the title, not to mention the top 4. And the relegation battle looks to be ever so close.
After a busy transfer window with Cesc and Nasri STILL not leaving and loads of signing’s from many premier league teams, i can guarantee everyone that this season we will se some great games.
The first round of matches happens on the 13th and the 14th and a game on Monday the 15th as usual.
Below i will post the Fixtures for “Round 1″ along with my prediction.

I believe we will say loads of goals on day 1, with Swansea facing a tough day 1 start in Manchester, all top 4 teams are facing tough starts but looking to win their games and i believe its “hard but possible”.
As we all know you don’t know what to expect in the premier league, but one this is certain. Excitement.
The biggest game for me is the Newcastle v Arsenal Rematch of the game of the season last year (4-4) and as an Arsenal fan I’m sure that if its 4-0 at half time, it won’t be over.
Other big games include Liverpool v Sunderland and Manchester United hosted by West Brom. Stoke city v Chelsea

£20 million to land Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios to Stoke.
Redknapp and Pulis
Stoke City are willing to sign Crouch and Palacios for Big Money from Spurs.
Crouch is thought to be seeking around £70,000-a-week to join Stoke, which is more than the Stoke’s current top earner is paid, while Palacios is also looking for a considirable salary.
Palacious has only made 18 appereances with Tottenham last season in the Barclays Premier League, and Peter Crouch only scoring 4 in the same competition. So Harry Rednkanpp is willing to exchange them with cash.
Redknapp has been told that he must sell before he can buy this summer. Harry is looking for a striker to net them more goals, as Defoe only scored a couple of goals last season and was injured for a long time. Pavlyuchenko has had a good season last year. With Crouch may be leaving, Redknapp tops his list with a striker.
If Palacious and Crouch do move to the Potters, it would mean that Stoke have signed 3 players this summer from Tottenham, after signing Woodgate.
