Vidic to retire from international duty?
It seems Vidic has played his last game for Serbian Red.
Nemanja Vidic is set to retire from the Serbian internationals squad as they failed to qualify for the EURO’s being held next year.
The 29-year-old said: “It’s time for a change of generations and for some older players to say goodbye to the Serbian jersey.”
Vidic is joined by Inter Milan ace Dejan Stankovic, 33, who said “I played many matches, helped the national team and it’s time for me to turn to my tasks with Inter Milan.”
This will be a huge loss for the Serbian squad and i don’t think they will ever find someone to replace him.
UEFA to decide Rooney’s ban on Thursday

It is definitely a one game ban, but UEFA could extend that to two or three games.
Capello has said that he might not even start for the whole of the Euro’s due to his “temperament”
“UEFA’s policy is to automatically ban a player for one match after a red card, with a disciplinary panel convening to discuss any extra punishment on an individual basis. They will meet on Thursday to decide if Rooney’s kick at Miodrag Dzudovic warrants more than a standard one game suspension.”
African Cup of Nations: Who’s in, and who’s not
The teams qualified for the ACN so far are :
Ghana, Gabon, Eq Guinea, Botswana, CIV, Tunisia, Mali, Niger, Burkina, Senegal, Guinea, Zambia, Libya, Angola.
You might notice that there are loads of African Heavyweights missing.
Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa and most notably Egypt (broke records with 19 consecutive games unbeaten in 2010) miss out on the African Cup of Nations.
This means only 1 from the 9 most recent winners will compete (Tunisia).

Arjen Robben undergoes surgery
Injured... Again.
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben, who has only just returned from a five-week injury lay-off, underwent groin surgery on Friday and will be out for 10 days.
He ofcourse, dropped out of the Netherlands squad and will not participate in the EURO 2012 Qualifier.

The possibility of Redknapp managing England at the finals is now being openly discussed in the corridors of power – and is rated ‘probable’ by top sources.
The FA chiefs are looking for someone to take the England job after Fabio Capello and the Tottenham boss is one of the most mentioned name.

Netherlands went top of the FIFA world rankings for the first time without playing a match in the last month.
Although their friendly against England was cancelled because of the London riots, Netherlands benefited as previous leadersSpain were beaten by Italy to lose their place at the top. England also profited from the cancellation of the fixture, moving back up to fourth.
World and European champions Spain had led for one year, but now drop down one place after losing a friendly with Italy 2-1 in Bari two weeks ago.
The Dutch became the seventh team to head the rankings since they were introduced in 1993 after Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Ghana’s international with Nigeria, which was due to be played at Watford’s Vicarage Road ground tonight, has also been cancelled.

The England squad for the friendly match against Holland has been announced and it doesn’t come without surprises.
The much unneeded match up right before the start of the premier league is the most hated internationals by any coach as it leaves their players unfit and sometimes injured right before some crucial matches.
The England team is as follows:

The main surprise of this team is Arsenal Star Jack Wilshire who was injured and did not feature in the Arsenal defeat against Benfica, but yet is chosen by Fabio Capello.
Wenger has previously said that if he does not play for Arsenal against Benfica he will surely not play for England, this decision is now in the hands of Mr. Capello and it may lead to a big Arsenal blow if he gets injured ahead of our crucial first 5 games .
